Let's get this out of the way: these foes have gas—as in they're filled with it. Hitting them head-on will cause them to blow up; get caught in the blast and you're talking major damage. Conveniently, all Tank Topplers come fitted with shutoff valves on their backs. Move around behind them and hit the valves to avoid an explosive end.

The Tank Toppler is an Unversed that is found in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep.

Design

A Tank Toppler is a large, nearly spherical, bomb-like Unversed. Its upper body is pitch-black and its lower body is navy blue with red stripes. The two sections are divided by a red stripe around its waist. Its head is spherical with a tall antenna resembling a wick on the top of its head. Its head and the area around it is navy blue, and the area around its head has a red outline shaped like an eight-pointed star. Its arms are very short, nearly spherical, and seemingly useless. Their tips are silver and sport a short, silver rod. There is a golden valve on its upper back. The Tank Toppler's red eyes are set in an angry expression and a large Unversed emblem adorns its chest. It has been shown to inflate and deflate at will.

In Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix, the Tank Toppler receives a palette swap. It now has a body colored mainly in shades of brown with pale, faded gold highlights. The valve on its back remains gold.

Strategy

Tank Topplers are sturdy enemies, and they can be a bit of a challenge to defeat if one does not use the proper strategy. If these Unversed are hit from the front, they will glow red and swell; repeated strikes to the front will cause the Tank Toppler to become immune to damage for a period of time before exploding. In order to prevent this from happening, it is highly recommended that the player strike these Unversed from behind. While it is possible to finish a Tank Toppler from the front using a special attack with a large range, such as Blitz, the possibility of this happening is quite rare. In addition to exploding, Tank Topplers can attack players by bouncing on them or shooting gusts of air from their arms.

If Facing a Tank Toppler at a lower level or in Mirage Arena, hit the Tank Toppler from the front to cause it to self-destruct, killing it faster at the cost of EXP.
